چکیده
Arsenic is a metalloid frequently found in contaminated sites, especially the soil. In this regard, soil contamination has attracted researchers’ attention because it affects suction, which essential unsaturated mechanics. Due to its reliability and low cost, filter paper method used evaluate suction. However, laborious time consuming. As an alternative, different mathematical models have been developed estimate natural soil’s The objective of study was elucidate if Fuentes’ model (using fractal, Mualem, Burdine restrictions) can be soil-water retention curve arsenic-contaminated by comparing with data already reported. results showed that under conditions, provided similar those obtained method. also suggested modification structure, observed increase particle diameter after contamination. overestimate suction values for soils. This observation highlights necessity use stabilization control volume variations. overestimated hydraulic conductivity function Hence, potential does not reflect behavior soils induce misinterpretation contaminant transport evaluation Nevertheless, further analyses should performed investigate direct applicability other substances.

Estimating the water retention curve from soil properties: comparison of linear, nonlinear and concomitant variable methods
The unsaturated soil hydraulic functions involving the soil–water retention curve (SWRC) and the hydraulic conductivity provide useful integrated indices of soil quality. Existing and newly devised methods were used to formulate pedotransfer functions (PTFs) that predict the SWRC from readily available soil data. The PTFs were calibrated using a large soils database from Hungary. The database c...

An improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) was proposed and the intelligent algorithms such as IPSO, genetic algorithm (GA), and simulated annealing algorithm (SA) were introduced to determine parameters of Van Genuchten (VG) model for soil water retention curve (SWRC) of four typical agricultural soil textures (clay, clay loam, silt loam and sand loam) in China. For comparison, the SWRC in...

introduction: water and soil retention curve is one of the most important properties of porous media to obtain in a laboratory retention curve and time associated with errors. for this reason, researchers have proposed techniques that help them to more easily acquired characteristic curve. one of these methods is the use of fractal geometry. determining the relationship between particle size di...
